With the current 6th generation of Micro Switches (according to IEEE 802.3az Energy Efficient Ethernet) MICROSENS continues to use the unique device form of the installation switch, which has been available since 1995. The Micro Switch TP a 6-port copper version (6x 10/100/1000Base-T) is a special Micro Switch version that can be integrated into existing infrastructures as an extension component of existing standard structured TP cabling in order to increase the number of user ports at the workstation. Another application of the Micro Switch TP is the optimization of shared cabling network infrastructures, in which the 2x4 TP cores are re-equipped to 1x8 and the limited number of TP links is increased using Micro Switch.
The Micro Switch TP hides 2 of its 6 TP ports within the installation as an uplink or for expansion purposes. 4 TP ports 10/100/1000Base-T are always designed as user ports.
In the Micro Switch TP version with PoE+ (IEEE 802.3at compliant, downward compatible IEEE 802.3af), the switch has 5 TP ports with PSE (Powered Source Equipment) to power PoE-compliant end devices (VoIP telephones, WLAN access points, IP cameras, thin clients, etc.) within the office environment directly and without a separate power supply (54 VDC typ.). The uplink port of the Micro Switch TP in the PoE+ version is designed as a PD port (Powered Device). This special function allows the micro switch to be operated without a separate power supply using PoE or PoE+ (in accordance with IEEE 802.3at, downward-compatible IEEE 802.3af) and to be passed on using the PSE function (taking into account the basic physical rules).
The power requirement for the standard PoE+ function is generated by an external power supply (e.g. MS700710), the power supply is integrated into the installation.
The hidden mini-USB interface serves as a console port for direct management access to the high-performance Layer2 management. This is based on a future-proof Linux operating system. The very wide range of features (especially in the area of IT security, IEEE 802.1x, VLANs IEEE 802.1q etc.) is shown in the firmware feature list (see download area), which is always extended by the implemented features after upgrading the firmware.
Access to the switch is password-protected via all common management interfaces such as browser-based (via web browser https/http), SSH, SNMPv3. MICROSENS NMP software optimizes access to a large number of micro switches within an FTTO network using group and master configuration.
The microSD card slot can optionally be used as a backup system for firmware and configuration. The complete device status can be transferred by exchanging the card. The memory card complies with the industry standard. A fault-tolerant journaling file system is used, which can be encrypted using the security option.
