As a special version of the well-known Micro Switch, MICROSENS sets new standards with the Medical Micro Switch in terms of performance, reliability and security for data networks in medical industry, hospitals and practices.
The versions equipped with fiber optic ports are suitable for setting up Fiber to the Office (FTTO) networks in health care facilities. Depending on the application, mixed structures with micro switches (opt. with PoE+) are used in the administration area and medical micro switches in the medical area.
The Medical Micro Switch exceeds the strict requirements for electromagnetic compatibility. The four network ports are decoupled galvanic by special isolators to protect patients and devices from fault currents. The Medical Switch offers far-reaching security features (Port Security, IEEE 802.1x, etc.) to meet the particularly high requirements for network security in the medical environment. This ensures confidential data remains confidential. The Medical Switch is based on the proven decentralized network architecture & the cost-effectiveness which has been proven by independent reports and numerous projects.
The freely accessible 4 network ports of the MICROSENS Medical Micro Switches are equipped with special, galvanic insulating transformers. The distance between primary and secondary connections is at least 8 mm. With a minimum dielectric strength of 4000 Volt (4 KV) and 2 MOPP insulation strength according to IEC/EN 60601-1, the isolators effectively prevent the endangerment of patients and medical personnel through interference and flashovers.
The very compact switches are characterized by their extremely small space requirement and can be installed in various installation situations such as ceiling supply units. In addition to the version with internal 230 VAC power supply, a Medical Micro-Switch with an external medical power supplies of 48 VDC is also available. For the 48V version, the use of a separate medical power supply unit (MS700680) provides additional protection.
The mini-USB interface, which is hidden when installed, serves as a console port for direct management access to the high-performance Layer2 management. It is based on a future-proof Linux operating system. The very wide range of features (especially in the area of IT security, IEEE 802.1x, VLANs IEEE 802.1q etc.) is shown in the firmware feature list (see download area), which is always extended by the implemented features after upgrading the firmware.
Access to the switch is password-protected via all common management interfaces such as browser-based (via web browser https/http), SSH, SNMPv3. MICROSENS NMP software optimizes access to a large number of micro switches within an FTTO network using group and master configuration.
The microSD card slot can optionally be used as a backup system for firmware and configuration. The complete device status can be transferred by exchanging the card. The memory card complies with the industry standard. A fault-tolerant journaling file system is used, which can be encrypted using the security option.
