Automation in buildings is constantly increasing, but not every component has an IP connection. "It would be uneconomical to equip every switch and every sensor with its own IP connection", says Martin Graeve, Product Manager Smart Building Solutions at MICROSENS. "Instead of connecting all components at the field level to the floor distributor via a separate data line and providing a separate switch port for them, it is much more economical to connect them to a Smart I/O controller with digital inputs and outputs. This makes it possible to integrate several devices and components into the IP network simultaneously with very little effort".
Smart I/O Controller
The new Smart I/O Controller from MICROSENS provides ten inputs and eight outputs for digital signals. In addition, it offers a connection for power supply of a device with 24 V DC up to 20 W. The controller itself can optionally be supplied with 24 V DC or with Power-over-Ethernet via the data line. Its IP connection transmits data at 10/100 Mbit/s. The robust metal housing and the extended temperature range from 0 to +50 °C ensure that the Smart I/O Controller operates reliably even in the harsher environments of a building.
Building a bridge to the Smart Building
As part of the Smart Building Solutions product family, the Smart I/O Controller bridges the gap between classic digital and IP technology. Users who would like to benefit from the advantages of IP-based Smart Building Solutions but do not want to replace existing components of their building automation with new devices with IP connection, MICROSENS offers a particularly economical way to Smart Building with the new Smart I/O Controller.
Open system with MQTT
The communication between controller and network switch is via MQTT. The standardized transmission protocol ensures that the Smart I/O Controller can be integrated by any MQTT-capable device. This allows users to integrate the controller into existing networks with minimal effort.
