XL showroom for video and fiber to the office technology - VALEO IT Neteye also relies on MICROSENS as a long-standing partner in its own building
Targeted bundling of know-how
The success story of VALEO IT Neteye actually began back in 2004 with the founding of VALEO IT GmbH, an IT service provider with a broad portfolio, including video surveillance. After a few years, it became apparent that the demand for IP video surveillance solutions was increasing and the division was spun off. Norbert von Breidbach-Bürresheim, Managing Partner of VALEO IT Neteye GmbH, recalls: “By setting up our own company, we showed customers the seriousness and relevance we attached to IP video technology.” With MOBOTIX for the camera technology and MICROSENS for the network technology, the two central partners of the new GmbH were already in place at this point. The success proved VALEO IT Neteye right: today, the company serves customers throughout the DACH region, in South Tyrol and in the neighboring Czech Republic.
Projects of all sizes
VALEO IT Neteye receives inquiries from both companies and public authorities. As a rule, the system integrator develops and implements individual solutions, from the comprehensive surveillance of an entire factory site, such as at Maschinenfabrik Niehoff with more than 90,000 square meters on a large scale, to the video surveillance of a private building on a small scale. However, the video cameras are often required in places where there is no power supply. In this case, the system integrator uses Power over Ethernet to supply the hardware with power via the data line. The company obtains these PoE switches or separate PoE injectors from MICROSENS. Norbert von Breidbach-Bürresheim explains: “The reliable functioning of our video solutions depends largely on the underlying network technology. In MICROSENS, we have a partner that manufactures robust and flexible components and, as a German manufacturer, also offers us outstanding service.”
Company headquarters as a showpiece
After the positive experiences in the project business, it was clear to Norbert von Breidbach-Bürresheim that MICROSENS components should also be used for the new company headquarters. The Fiber To The Office concept offered the ideal starting point for all applications that were to run in the network and at the same time offered maximum flexibility. The building and all necessary external connections were wired with fiber optics. A central, high-performance multi-fiber 10G switch with extensive management and security functions forms the heart of the network. In the offices and IT lab, the team installed micro switches with PoE+ functionality, to which all end devices can be easily and flexibly connected using copper cables. IP telephony, computers, printers, video cameras and intelligent building automation are simply controlled via the network. “For our customers, a visit to us is confirmation that our solutions and the components from MICROSENS work smoothly in everyday life,” explains Norbert von Breidbach-Bürresheim. In the outdoor area, VALEO IT Neteye also uses another solution developed in-house, which uses an additional component from the partner: the CAR-READER.
Compact proprietary solutions
IP cameras can be used for more than just classic video surveillance. Very often, processes are also analyzed and documented or additional information is transmitted from remote locations. Together with partners, VALEO IT Neteye has developed its own complete solution for capturing vehicle license plates for access control. The CAR-READER in conjunction with the Gateberry software also monitors the company parking lot at VALEO IT Neteye. A barrier secures the access road and is equipped with a MOBOTIX IP camera, which is supplied with power via a MICROSENS Entry Line PoE injector. The camera reads and recognizes the vehicle license plates, the software compares the read data and controls the barrier automatically. This solution is used for access control and documentation for public or company parking lots.
A very prominent example of this solution is known to Sylt travelers who use the DB Sylt Shuttle. They enter the vehicle's license plate number directly online when booking. When entering the terminal area, the CAR-READER records the license plate number, checks it, opens the barrier and automatically validates the ticket. Norbert von Breidbach-Bürresheim is well aware that the solution has to work reliably when the train is busy with around 2,500 vehicles on peak days: “Trusting cooperation with our partners is very important to us. We know that we are installing robust IP components, which is the core requirement for the success of such a project.”
Keeping an eye on the future
Whether constructing its own company building or implementing a customer's system, VALEO IT Neteye is all about creating an optimized, future-proof solution. Even after twenty years in the business, there are always new challenges in projects, as Norbert von Breidbach-Bürresheim confirms: “It always surprises me that every project is unique. You think you've seen all the requirements at some point and yet something new comes up again. The good thing is that I can always find a component in the MICROSENS portfolio to meet the customer's requirements. This flexibility pays off, especially in video technology.”
About MICROSENS
Transmitting information via fiber optic connections offers numerous benefits. MICROSENS GmbH & Co. KG recognised this very early on. As one of the pioneers, the company has developed and produced high-performance communications and transmission systems in Germany since 1993. Individually matched to the demands of diverse usage areas and embedded in comprehensive concepts for individual sectors. But, above all, close to the customer. Technical challenges from customer projects are incorporated directly into product development. This way, IP-based automation solutions are created for modern buildings, cost-efficient network concepts for the office and workspace, robust and fail-safe solutions for industrial environments, optical transport systems future-oriented wide area networks and efficient coupling of sites and computer centres.
