Ruggedized Micro Switch from MICROSENS – compact, powerful and economical

Applications that demand a high level of robustness and reliability, such as large-scale WLAN coverage, building automation or IP video, do not always require cost-intensive industrial Ethernet components. With the ruggedized Micro Switch, MICROSENS offers an extremely economical alternative.

The Micro Switch excels by virtue of its compact design and can especially be used where little space is available, such as in small enclosures or electric switchgear. With its 45 mm design, the Micro Switch fits precisely in standard cut-outs and a mounting supplied allows it to be installed directly on DIN rails. Two mechanical designs are also available for selection - vertical and horizontal.

However, the size is not achieved at the cost of functionality or performance. With dimensions of 90x45x58 mm, a total of six Gigabit ports are available: five 10/100/1000Base-T ports with Power-over-Ethernet+ (PoE+) according to IEEE 802.3at to connect terminal devices and a fiber optic uplink port. The extended switch version with two fiber optic uplinks can be used to realise a redundant fiber optic ring structure or a redundant terminal device connection for enhanced availability. The Micro Switch offers an extended temperature range from – 25 to +65 °C and offers all safety and management features from the current MICROSENS industrial Ethernet device generation.

No special IT knowledge is necessary for installation and maintenance. The operating system and configuration data are saved on a microSD card with which the device can also be preconfigured. If a switch has to be replaced, the card is simply inserted in the new device, which automatically adopts all the settings.

The Micro Switch is available for delivery immediately.

About MICROSENS

Transmitting information via fiber optic connections offers numerous benefits. MICROSENS GmbH & Co. KG recognised this very early on. As one of the pioneers, the company has developed and produced high-performance communications and transmission systems in Germany since 1993. Individually matched to the demands of diverse usage areas and embedded in comprehensive concepts for individual sectors. But, above all, close to the customer. Technical challenges from customer projects are incorporated directly into product development. This way, IP-based automation solutions are created for modern buildings, cost-efficient network concepts for the office and workspace, robust and fail-safe solutions for industrial environments, optical transport systems future-oriented wide area networks and efficient coupling of sites and computer centres.
