This Converter enables triple Gigabit Ethernet media conversion (3x 1000Base-T to 1000Base-X) and is based on modular SFP slots. In combination with copper-based Gigabit switches, high port densities and lowest per-port costs are achieved.
This advantage is particularly important in FTTD networks, where a correspondingly high number of Gigabit fiber optic connections are required on the central side. The use of central media converters is particularly useful for new investments in future Gigabit Ethernet technologies.
The modular design with pluggable transceivers (SFPs) gives the triple converter module a lot of flexibility. MICROSENS offers a wide range of pluggable optical transceiver modules for multimode, singleomode and single mode simplex applications. The Converter is suited for use as an active transponder card in xWDM systems if local copper ports are to be directly converted to WDM channels. In this case, three Gigabit Services can be implemented on just one card. This is an extremely compact and cost-efficient solution for WDM applications.
When using a management agent within an MSP800 chassis, the triple converter module can be displayed in the management for monitoring purposes as well. The module also works without the agent, making it a simple Gigabit Triple Converter.
The three converters on the module are completely separated from each other. This means conversions from different networks can be carried out on one module without data being transferred from one network to another.
